Early Life

Chitrangada was born in a Jat Hindu family and was brought up in Meerut situated in West Uttar Pradesh. She has a brother Digvijay Singh who is a good golf player. In her childhood she was known for looking like late.Smita Patil.  When Shekhar Kapoor saw her performance in her first debut " Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi " in 2003 he told " You have outdone Smita Patil ". Chitrangada loves acting and has received training in Kathak.

Personal Life

Chitrangada married to golfer Jyoti Singh Randhawa. Jyoti Singh is recognized in top 100 golfers and has 10 professional Tour wins. But unfortunately her married life came to an end in 2013. And later on in april 2014 they got divorced and their son Zorawar's custody has been granted to Chitrangada.

Career

She begin her career as a model in Delhi befor going to the silver screen. After completion of her education from Lady Irwin College, New Delhi in Home Science. She entered modeling and did ads for ICICI bank and Alukkas Jewellery and then gradually shifted to music videos. She performed in Gulzar's " Sunset Point ". She was also spotted in a music video of singer Abhijit Bhattacharya. Gradually with her skills and passion she made her first debut with the movie " Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi " a Sudhir Mishra's film in 2003. This role made her wide acclaim: A washington post reviewed as "her character a deep sense of dignity and decency". After that Chitrangada appeared in the film " Kal: Yesterday and Tommorow "  in 2005. She also did an item number in the film " Joker ". Also she gaved her voice to many animated movies. In the year 2008, she came up with the leading role opposite Sanjay Suri in a romantic-comedy film " Sorry Bhai! " directed by Onir. Its release in tge weekend of the Mumbai terror attacks proved to be disastrous at the box office. She got sucess and stardom in the year 2011 in the Sudhir Mishra's movie " Yeh Saali Zindagi ". Chitrangada played a role of ab aspiring singer from Delhi who goes to mumbai for fame and money. Next big debut she made was with Rohit Dhawan's " Desi Boys " where she played a role of economics professor opposite khiladi " Akshay Kumar ". She got popular with appearance with this movie.
